Jords Almost An Adult Out Now, Speaks On Black Families, Making Music, Collaborations, South London!

FEATURING THE SINGLES ‘SWING’, ‘SO IT GO’ FT. KIDA KUDZ, ‘HALOS’ FT. THEA GAJIC, ‘ROSE TINTED GLASSES’ FT. JAZ KARIS, ‘MRS CHAMBERS KITCHEN PT.2’, ‘PATTERNED’ FT. DOTTY AND NEW SINGLE ‘MY CITY’ Jords today unveils his much anticipated coming-of-age project Almost An Adult. The self-produced Almost An Adult is a potent project, made by an artist waking up to their own mortality while also growing into a man. As an artist and producer, the Croydon rapper wants his music to help a whole generation of young people from the inner cities process their pain.

Jords Words…. “Almost An Adult is what the inside of my head sounds like. From my biggest dreams to my worst nightmares, from my biggest losses to my biggest wins, from the anger in the storm to the calm after it.” Recorded while mourning the death of his grandmother, Almost An Adult sees Jords fearlessly show his vulnerabilities, introspectively rapping over soulful production that mirrors early-J Cole and Wretch 32, two of his heroes. His slick bars transition from celebrating no longer having to hand out CVs to talking up his hometown.

Almost An Adult showcases the breadth of Jords’ versatility; sliding between atmospheric trap banger ‘Brothers’, to the laid-back, sun-dappled afrobeat instrumentals of ‘So It Go’ ft. Kida Kudz. Jords grounds the project in the everyday, with ‘Patterned’ ft. Dotty seeing Jords rap on saving money and paying his taxes on time. From smooth opener ‘My City’ to lo-fi hip hop cut ‘Swing’, Jords combines clever lyrics with raw emotion and thought-provoking concepts.

An intensely personal record, Jords’ late grandmother is sampled on several tracks on the project with the soulful ‘Halos’ ft. Thea Gajic being dedicated to her memory. The film was shot between Jamaica and London, and discusses issues of masculinity, faith, bereavement, love, family, race and unity. Almost An Adult is an amalgamation of years of Jords’ hard work and dedication to his craft, inspired by the reggae and jazz records introduced to him by his parents.

From releasing his first singles in 2016 to now, Jords has developed his production and songwriting skills from his bedroom studio. Jords’ natural empathy and talent for creating music that pierces through touches you in the heart.
